The ASPCA was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 whose mission was “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” Now the ASPCA is one of the largest humane society’s in the world with a focus on preventing animal cruelty and enacting laws for protection for animals.
