Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a, humanitarian, non-governmental, non-religious organization (NGO) that delivers emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, diseases, disasters, and other epidemics around-the-world. Moreover, where people are excluded from obtaining health care, they provide the necessary facilities and medicines required for both short-term and long-term care in extreme conditions. Furthermore, they work to spread awareness to the lack of effective treatments and vaccines in developing countries. Large pharmaceutical companies will place profit above the needs of people in developing countries, and legal restrictions prevent these countries from seeking-out alternative medicines to those decreased, discontinued, or inflated due to the lack of need in developing countries. Doctors Without Borders was founded upon the idea that people have the right to medical care regardless of gender, race, religion, creed, or political affiliation; as well as the belief that the needs of people greatly outweigh the respect for profit margins or national boundaries.
