Millennium Promise is a non-profit consumer services organization, based-in New York City, New York, which works to advance sustainable development in communities across rural Africa. Founded in 2005, the organization’s original mission was to provide an operational and resource mobilization platform for the Millennium Villages Project; a global initiative that deployed a holistic, science based approach to advance what were known as Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). As it was, in 2015, the United Nations the MDGs were replaced-by a similar, yet more advanced model of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); a collection of 17 social and economic goals, which are broad in nature and consist of several targets per goal. All in all, by 2030 the mission is to: end poverty, eradicate hunger, improve access to health services and education; as well as to improve water and sanitation, energy, and social justice. In-turn, Millennium Promise implemented them into several of their initiatives including the Sustainable Districts Program, the Lead Farmer Program, and the One Million Community Health Workers Campaign.
