Introduced by Procter & Gamble in 1946, Tide has been the best-selling laundry detergent for more than 68 years. Over 40 million American households use Tide laundry detergent each year, and according to surveys and data collected by BrandSpark, the product is the most trusted laundry detergent by American consumers. Tide believes they are much more than just soap. They believe in the “power of clean.” And, through this power, they provide hope by engaging directly with disaster relief.
In response to the horrendous aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, P&G and Tide created the Loads of Hope program; which, is a mobile laundromat developed to assist with restoring a sense of normalcy in the midst of chaos by providing a sense of dignity through the comfort of clean clothing. Since then, they have washed more than 65,000 loads of laundry for nearly 45,000 families for every natural disaster from the tornadoes in Missouri, to the flooding in South Carolina, and most recently, they deployed their fleet to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Having learned from past experience, in 2015, P&G introduced a new laundry truck that can be quickly deployed and can travel to multiple areas of devastation, and they will do two free loads of laundry on its truck for every household. Furthermore, affected residents receive a bag of P&G products including toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, razors, diapers, and body wash. Donations are always welcome to help keep this outstanding program from P&G moving forward, which come through official Tide Loads of Hope T-Shirts, for which $4 from each sale goes toward helping families affected by disaster; and, those interest-in simply helping the program can donate directly to an established fund via their website.
